New Music This Week (w/e 09/02/18)

A plethora of new tracks to excite your eardrums this week, including the return of some veterans.  Let’s kick off with Ash:

Ash – Buzzkill

Now boys and girls, there’s nothing big or clever about swearing – but Tim Wheeler swears brilliantly in this first taster of his band’s new album Islands, out in May. This throwaway punky track is far more vital than what’s coming out of the serious, chin-stroking artists these days. Welcome back, Ash

John Prine – Summer’s End

We’ve long been fans of John Prine here at RockYouLike. This is the lead single from John’s first album of new material in 13 years. Suffice to say, his talent has dimmed not a jot, and we can’t wait for the release of The Tree Of Forgiveness in April

The Cars – Drive (demo)

News came through last week that the always brilliant Rhino Records will reissue The Cars’ 1981 album Shake It Up and it’s 1984 follow-up Heartbeat City as expanded editions on both CD and Vinyl. They’ve already made available a demo version of the latter album’s ‘Drive’:

A Perfect Circle – Talk Talk

Along with this, the third new track from A Perfect Circle in as many months, came the title and release date of their first album since 2004. Eat The Elephant will be in stores on April 20th

New Album Of The Week:
MGMT – Little Dark Age

RockYouLike loved Ben and Andrew’s last album, 2013’s MGMT. It didn’t do well commercially, and it’s taken almost 5 years for the follow-up to reach us. Little Dark Age is a joy from start to finish, our favouorite tracks being ‘James’, ‘When You’re Small’, and ‘When You Die’

Reissue Of The Week:
Ramones – Ramones

If, for reasons best known to yourself, you’ve not got this album in your collection, you’ve no excuse now, as Rhino have just reissued it on vinyl. You need hide from the world no longer, redemption is near.
