Hi All, here are our favourite songs from the past seven days:

The National -The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness

Irish people were cock-a-hoop on Thursday when it was announced that The National will play gigs in Dublin and Cork this September.  They also announced their new album Sleep Well Beast and treated us to the lead single

Roger Waters – Deja Vu

This is just great from ol’ Rog.  Still producing the party anthems after all these years

Starcrawler – Ants

A bit try-hard, and far from original, but there’s something about this track we really like.  They’re from L.A., there are 4 of them, and they may have a passing interest in Pixies

Everything Is Recorded (feat. Giggs) – Early This Morning

Everything Is Recorded is actually XL Recordings main man Richard Russell, and for his new E.P., he’s enlisted the help of, among others, Sampha, Green Off Scritti Politti, and Warren Ellis. The E.P.’ called Close But Not Quite, and this track is our favourite:

Fleet Foxes – Fool’s Errand

They’ve not changed their M.O. all that much, but if it ain’t broke….

New Album Of The Week
Paul Weller – A Kind Revolution

First nob to trot out the lazy “Dad-Rock” cliche gets barred.  Weller’s newie is outstanding.  Fantastic interview with him in this month’s Q Magazine too

Reissue Of The Week
Bob Dylan – The Bootleg Series Vol 1-3

First released back in 1991, it’s available now as a “bookset”. Three CDs stuffed with Dylan rarities, and a great way in to the World Of Bob.  Worth the price for ‘Series Of Dreams’ alone, but there are stunning versions of ‘Idiot Wind’, ‘He Was A Friend Of Mine’ and a number of previously-unreleased songs such as ‘Foot Of Pride’, ‘Angelina’ and the incredible ‘Blind Willie McTell’.

Now, off with you and surrender to the World Of Bob
