Here are the new tracks you need to hear.  We’re not including any Record Store Day releases, we’ve covered them here, here, and here

Lana Del Rey feat. The Weeknd – Lust For Life

Second new single in as many months for Ms. Del Rey.  This is the title track from her new album, which will be coming “soon”. Also, while we’re here, isn’t The Weeknd one of the most interesting artists of the past few years?  We think so.

Pond – Paint Me Silver

Playing this year’s Electric Picnic festival, Pond’s new album The Weather comes out on May 5th.  “Paint Me Silver” was released yesterday

Kasabian – Are You Looking For Action?

Serge and Co. go disco.  Someone’s da is on the single cover.

Other singles we can’t preview for you, for reasons that are wank:

Joe Grushecky feat. Bruce Springsteen – That’s What Makes Us Great

You have to buy this, from Joe’s website, to hear it.  Cos it’s 2010.  I’m all for musicians being paid, but come on Joe, let us hear it first!

Prince – Deliverance

It’s Prince’s 1st anniversary today.  News came during the week that a new 6-track EP of songs (recorded between 2006 and 2008) would be released today.  Seems that the dude issuing them doesn’t have the right to, at least according to the Prince estate, so the EP has been injuncted.  One song, “Deliverance”, IS available, but only if you live in the USA.  We don’t.

New Album of The Week:

Ray Davies – Americana

King Kink returns.  And sounds great.  He’s a Knight of The Realm now, but he invented Heavy Metal.

Reissue of The Week:

Various Artists – Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol 2

Does a movie soundtrack featuring a brace of classic songs count as a reissue?  Yes, yes it does.  This album is a tie-in with the second Guardians Of The Galaxy movie.  The first Mixtape was a huge seller on vinyl, and judging by the quality of the songs on offer, this one will be too.

Tracklist:

1. ”Mr. Blue Sky” – Electric Light Ochestra
2. ”Fox on the Run” – Sweet
3. ”Lake Shore Drive” – Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
4. ”The Chain” – Fleetwood Mac

5. ”Bring It On Home To Me” – Sam Cooke
6. ”Southern Nights” – Glen Campbell
7. ”My Sweet Lord” – George Harrison

8. ”Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl” – Looking Glass

11. ”Surrender” – Cheap Trick
12. ”Father and Son” – Cat Stevens

Cheers for now, and happy listening
